This jacket is constructed from two layers of linen held together by lapped seams, ensuring breathability and comfort, while making it perfect for both formal and casual occasions. The Nehru collar adds an elegant twist, offering a modern and distinguished look.

Other features include fully functional button cuffs, foot stitching along the collar, and a clean line of top stitching around the outline of the pockets to hold them in place—a detail mirrored in the matching trousers.

Wear it with matching trousers to a wedding, layered over a black linen nehru jacket in spring, or with nothing underneath in warmer weather. That’s the great thing about nehru jackets—they button all the way to the top.

The design brief was: “a nehru jacket made out of pure Irish linen.” Too often, linen suit jackets come lined, often in synthetic fabrics, which detract from the breezy, breathable qualities of linen. Linen is special: it has structure, but also softness, qualities which lend themselves to unlined, semi-formal garments.
And yet, the rationale behind lining a linen jacket is perfectly valid: to ensure a clean internal finish so that pocket bags don’t flap around under the hood. Visible pocket bags work wonderfully for some garments, but for this linen blazer, we were uncompromising about a pristine internal finish. Like the Heron’s Ghyll archetype, this jacket needed to be unflappable, armorial, shell-like, almost. So we sandwiched pocket bags between two layers of the same linen fabric, which explains the working title for this style: “the double layer linen jacket.”
The intended fit is loose and relaxed to account for the lack of vents or side slits (remember: unflappable).
